Ottawa County Museum Celebrates America's 250th

Join us in a Year Long Celebration

The Ottawa County Museum is very excited to be joining the rest of the country in celebration of the 250th Anniversary of the signing of the Declaration of Independence! Each month we will be following the rest of the state and highlighting a different collection piece that coincides with the month's theme! We will also be debuting two new exhibits! Be sure to check out what's happening down below!

Our New Exhibits

Biro Manufacturing

The History of Biro Manufacturing highlights the invention of the meat cutter, which revolutionized meat processing for the whole country. The technology was so effective it was used in the mess halls of almost every single US Naval ship during World War 2.

Erie Dearie

The Erie Dearie focuses on the fishing lure that put Port Clinton on the map as a "Walleye Capital". It was a key piece of equipment in assisting one of the Lake's all-female fishing teams to victory in the 7th Pro-Am Walleye Fishing tournament. In just two days the team of 5 reeled in 471 inches and won $8500 in cash prizes.
